Olive you Mom!

Yep, I thought of that title all by myself because I wore olive green on mother's day. ;) I also thought my olive green cardigan matched so well with the bruises on my arms from having blood drawn nine days ago. But that's another story. I have to just say I am SO grateful for my momma, especially during the wedding planning process. Let me tell you, she definitely comes in handy and I couldn't do this without her. She's the absolute best and I just love her!

We had a really lovely Sunday. Breakfast with Jeff's family where I stuffed my face with pecan pancakes. We went for a stroll in the cemetery to visit my grandmother that we sadly lost almost seven years ago. Then we had dinner with my family, played frisbee and adored the little ones playing in the yard. All in all, today was pretty perfect. Happy Mother's Day to all you momma's out there!

Funny side note, I had a few people tell me that next year they would be wishing me a happy mother's day. Sorry to disappoint, but this girl has plans to travel Europe next summer, no babies allowed! Have a great week eveyone! xo

Life needs a remote.

Phew! What a whirlwind life has been lately, I'm still trying to catch my breath. The wedding is creeping up on us and is now less than four months away. How in the world does that even happen?! I swear, life seriously needs to come with a remote so I can hit pause, get lots done, take a nap and then hit resume. Oh and don't even get me started on the weather here. I'm ready for picnic weather and this thing they call spring just isn't cutting it so far. But alas, sunshine beat out the clouds today and here we are.


So I'm not entirely sure about this outfit yet. This dress has been sitting in my closet since last summer because I haven't got the slightest clue on how to style it. I've also been wanting to wear this sweater (and my favorite boots) before the heat wave kicks in, so presto chango, you've got yourself an outfit.
A few updates on the what to expect on the poor ol' neglected Simply Sunstar. I have a few things in the works and I can't wait to share them. I will be starting a new monthly feature, I have a project in the works that everyone can participate in AND I have a giveaway coming up soon. I promise, this little brain of mine has been working overtime on these long, rainy days.

Neutral Roses.

Hello friends, I hope I'm finding you all in happy spirits, it is Friday after all! We've been having warm(ish), sunny days with a whole lot of wind lately. I guess I should advise you all to put your sunnies on because my pale legs are seeing the light of day once again.


So I can't even begin to explain how amazing these shoes are, it's like walking on clouds. The cork bottoms give such an airy feel and they are so comfy. I'm so happy I invested in these beauties. What have been your favorite buys this season?

I'm so excited Spring is here, it means I can get away with wearing all the floral prints I want! I can't wait for some pretty flowers to start popping up, I'm ready for a change of scenery. I am currently in the process of a major spring/closet cleaning and I will be adding a few more things to my blog shop so I'll keep you posted on that. Hello, I'm awkward.

So apparently me trying to look really pretty and cool for the camera results in me looking completely awkward. I tried some new things and learned that I need to just be natural and not try so hard. I don't think the insane wind helped much either because I was constantly trying to tame my hair. So this is all I ended up with today.



I think I am going to live in outfits like this over the summer. Shorts + a tank top + flats are just so convenient for warm, windy days. I wanted to wear a skirt or dress today, but I would have been acting like Marilyn Monroe all day long except not as graceful. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Wishful thinking.

So today I'm pretending it's summer. I'm living in a make believe world where winter is over, spring has come and gone and now it's summer time. Meg's dress just reminds me so much of summer, so I knew instantly that I wanted red accessories and a hat to go with it. (Side note, this hat is my favorite thing ever)! I promise you all, I wasn't even a little cold taking these pictures. It's a beautiful summer day after all. ;)

Sorry for the lack of posting last week. Wedding planning is in full swing and last week I quit my nursing job. It just wasn't a good fit for me and all of my friends and family agreed I shouldn't stay. I did however get the nursing job I've been wanting forever, so I'll be starting that in June. So that's basically last week in a nutshell. Oh and I also spent the weekend with my mom which was much needed and amazing! I'm going to miss her like crazy when I move out. Also, thanks to my momma for taking today's pictures. They are unedited, she did so great!

Teal Suede Shoes

First things first, WELCOME SPRING!!!!! It brings me so much joy being able to say these words. Let's all welcome spring with high fives and hugs! I am so excited to start my spring/summer posts, I have so many ideas and now that it's getting warmer I can finally put them into effect. This outfit is one of the reasons I was so insanely excited for Spring to come, LACE! I am so excited I can wear lace, pastels and all of the florals I can get my hands on. Brace yourselves loves, I've got spring fever!
 
So I borrowed these shoes from my coworker/friend Brittany. She wore these shoes to work the other day and I had to fight back the urge to drool on them. She said I could borrow them and wear them for my blog. (She's one of the few people in my life that know about my blog). I wanted to pair these shoes with neutral colors as to save the spotlight for my sequined toesies! Thanks Brittany for making my feet feel like shiny princesses for a day!

I will actually be returning this dress as it is so ridiculously short. I'm so disappointed in the length of most F21 dresses. I'm 5'3 and MOST of their dresses are too short for me. So upsetting because this dress is so pretty! Anyway, I hope you all have a truly gorgeous week and I look forward to seeing you all in beautiful spring outfits! xo

Those fleeting moments.

Hi everyone and a warm welcome to all of my new readers! I'm so happy you are all here!! Sorry for my short absence, I'm currently adjusting to my new work schedule. I'm wearing sunglasses today to avoid scaring you all off with my crazy, tired eyes ;)




(Written over the weekend) Life is full of fleeting moments, you know those precious moments that go by inbetween blinks. The other night, so many of these small, insignificant moments occurred on our ride home from dinner. I love that my best friend can make a simple twenty minute drive into one of the funnest rides of my life!The ride was filled with laughter, bad jokes, singing, random noise making, howling and sticking our heads out the window screaming into the wind. It was nothing more than a hyperactive drive home, but it was all of those fleeting moments that added up to a memory that I will hold forever in my heart. Although none of those moments are life changing, it's those kinds of moments that have changed my life.



The weather today was beautiful, I soaked up every second of sunshine and fresh air. I'm looking forward to warm, sunny days! I hope you are all having an amazing week and I'll see you more this weekend! xoxo

Comfort first.

First off, I want to welcome all of you new readers and thank you all for stopping by and reading my blog. I'm so grateful for all of your sweet words and support! You are all so wonderful, truly :) Secondly, can we just take a second and just drool over my new header together? The amazingly talented Tieka designed it for me. It's so pretty and I just love staring at it! Thank you so much Tieka, it's perfect!

Okay so this is one of my favorite outfits ever. I thought about belting the dress, but I kind of like the baggy, free fit of it. Paired with the oversized, comfy sweater, it's no wonder I love it so much. I've also come to realize that these boots and this scarf make me love outfits so much more! Will you still read my blog if I wear these boots every day of forever? I'm tempted, but I will try to mix it up a bit, pinky promise ;)

The Bloggy Brunch

So the morning after the blogger meet up, half of the girls met back up for brunch and a small thrifting excursion. This was such a great time to talk some more and get to know each other better. Thanks so much to Tieka for taking all of our pictures!  I'm still reeling from the whole meet up experience and I can't wait to attend more in the future!

Job update: I finished my 4 days of death by powerpoint orientation and I officially start working on the floor Monday. I'm so nervous, but excited to officially be a "real nurse." I'm going to be working a crazy amount of hours each week between my two jobs, it's it's only for a few months. And no worries, I'll squeeze blogging in because I love it so much! Michigan Blogger Meetup Outfit

This will be one post of three covering the Michigan blogger meet up that I just attended. Tonight's post is the outfit, Wednesday you will see shots of the fashion show/night out, and Friday I will share our Saturday morning with you all. So stay tuned this week to read all about the meet up!

So Friday night I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with 11 bloggers from Michigan. It was such a great experience and so much fun to meet and talk with everyone. Everyone was so stylish and looked gorgeous! I drove 2.5 hours and met Tieka and Andrea for a quick bite before the Aqualush fashion show. We took outfit pictures behind Tieka's work building and Andrea took some amazing photos of us!

I thought this was the perfect time to debut my new fox print dress! I absolutely love it. Oh and getting to meet and talk with Tieka an Andrea was so inspiring.
