Trip: Day four.

Our last day "up north," my boyfriend and I went to Macinaw City. We didn't end up going to the island because it poured down rain. So we ducked into the Keyhole Bar and had lunch to wait out the bad weather. It eventually stopped, but at that point we made plans to do some other things. We came across a maze of mirrors and a 3D maze that we couldn't pass up. We are children afterall. Then we drove to the Macinaw bridge that leads to the upper peninsula where we took in the view and took some pictures.

Mirror/3D mazes.

We drove back to Petoskey where we went to see this little waterfall which is underneath the downtown area by the bay. After getting some pictures by the waterfall, we went and laid in the grass for awhile and relaxed.

Walking away from the water.

I had such an amazing time while I was away. Now it's time to get back to reality. I hope you all enjoyed my trip posts. I'm sorry the picture quality isn't better, but hopefully I can get a new camera soon.

* The diamond peace sign necklace was a gift from my grandmother for graduating college, I wear it almost everyday.

Trip: Day three.

Day three was incredible. First we went to this fishery that had an underground viewing of the stream that leads to a lake. Then we went on a long drive where we were engulfed by trees to a Polish restaurant called the Legs Inn. It sits on a cliff that has a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. Everywhere we went to eat on our trip was amazing, some of the best food I've ever eaten. The Legs Inn patio had flowers everywhere you looked and a cute garden area where you can sit and look out at the water where there are four lighthouses in the distance.

After our all day adventure, we headed back to my cousin's where my boyfriend did some fishing and I finished reading "Water for Elephants." Northern Michigan is absolutely beautiful. Michigan in general is really a beautiful state. Here are some pictures I took of Legs Inn and the last one is from the dock where we went fishing.

Trip: Day two.

On the second day of our trip we had brunch at this beautiful inn overlooking the bay. Then we went looking for Petoskey stones (see below) and had drinks at a tiki bar. We went to a few antique stores where I bought this mini iron cauldron (see below) and then we strolled the streets of downtown Petoskey.

Here is what I wore:

Later that night we had another bon fire, so I changed into this:

Cardigan/sweat pants- Target
Hat- Forever 21
Frog- Outside of the liquor store

Day two comes to a close, days 3 and 4 were the best.

Back to reality.

Jeff and I went on a 4 day vacation. It was some great R&R. After a 4 hour drive, we arrived here:

I had the most relaxing time in one of the most beautiful cities. I took over 300 pictures, so I need to go through and determine the "blog worthy" ones. Tomorrow I will be changing my layout and updating a lot more. Here are just a few pictures from Day 1. This day included our arrival, an amazing dinner at this old restaurant and drinking by a bonfire. We stayed with my cousin Nicole and her boyfriend. They have this cottage right across from a lake and we had access to swim/fish/etc.

The local liquor store sold cardboard beer box cowboy hats. Summer 2011 trend?
Excuse my tired face, waking up early and driving across state does that to me.

Boyfriend starting our bonfire :)

This was the start of an unforgettable getaway. I will be posting about our adventures from days two through four this week. I'm a little disappointed with the quality of my pictures. On top of my Christmas wish list is a nice camera. Any suggestions?

Quick book review: Water for Elephants.
I read this book in my down time this weekend. I thought it would be more "love story-ish" but it really captures the entire essence of the circus life in the early 1930's. The characters were well written and the plot comes full circle. I'm so excited for the movie next spring. Reese Witherspoon will make a perfect Marlena, I'm sure of it!
