A Really Nice (RN) story.

So Wednesday morning was completely bittersweet. I woke up early, battled severe anxiety, was over an hour late but eventually made it in to take my nursing boards. I walked in, sat behind a blue screen, took a deep breath and thought to myself "This is it, Heather, breathe!" After 265 of the most difficult questions ever, I walked out with my heart in my stomach. Jeff drove me and waited the 3 hours for me to take my test! I got in the car and simply said "I think I need to find a new career, because I failed."

I was so angry, so upset. Jeff and I went to Quizno's for lunch, I dried my tears and as soon as we opened the door I hear the lyrics "Don't worry cuz, everything's gonna be alright." Jeff and I looked at each other and laughed under our breath. As we stood there, contemplating what to order, Jeff just held me. He said the words "everything's gonna be alright," held me tight and swayed me, right there in Quizno's.  Next we hear a song by Lenka, and I sing to Jeff "Why's the world so cruel to me?"

After waiting the two days for my final results, I anxiously logged in to see my official fate. I closed my eyes, scared to see what it would say. When I finally had the courage to open them, I saw it: Pass. I passed? I PASSED! I am officially a Registered Nurse (RN)!! I called my family, tears streaming down my cheeks! I had my mom (and her coworkers) crying at work, my dad crying in the car. I got hugs, high fives, fun jumping up and down sessions. It's been the most amazing day!

So that was the big news I mentioned earlier on twitter! I'm over the moon excited and so happy to be completely finished with the road leading to my career. I'll still be working with my favorite Kindergarten class through June, so this means working two jobs (when I find one), but this is still so amazing! I've had a permanent smile all day! Have a lovely weekend everyone! Xo!

I took the Respiratory boards a few years ago and I completely understand how you felt! That was one of the most stressful things I have ever had to do. It took my picture on the computer before I took it and you can see the anxiety written all over my face. Haha. Congratulations!!!!!

Hi, congratulations on passing your board exam! I totally understand how you felt, here in the Philippines you'll know the result after two months so the waiting part almost killed me lol. Two agonizing months then thoughts were running through my mind that maybe I failed but when my friend called me up while I was attending a church mass and congratulated me, I was on cloud nine. I'm also a nurse but practicing a different profession. Congratulations again and good luck! :-)
